The phrase “ships passing in the night” refers to the phenomenon of being unaware that you are not alone. We are all individuals on a similar journey of self-discovery and creation. We are not mirror images of each other, and we do not covet each other’s sloughed-off organs and rejected hairstyles. We have much to offer each other, and we need to learn more about each other. We need to be able to stand together when the non-transsexual world oppresses us. And we need to be able to recognize and respect each other’s genuine differences.
